JONESPORT — Harvey C. Thurlow, 89, passed away unexpectedly on July 23.

He was born in Auburn to Harvey and Gertrude (Black) Thurlow. Harvey proudly served his country during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for BIW, Belgrade Shoe Co. (Auburn), Colonial Press in Clinton, Mass., and after 20 years he retired from Murray Printing in Massachusetts.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 11553 and also a member of the Community of Christ Church. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

He is survived by five children, sons, Richard Thurlow and his wife, Sylvia, of Detroit, Scott Thurlow and fiance, Tina Heart, of Jonesport, and Wayne Patterson and his wife, Jenny, of Charleston, S.C.; daughters, Jane Patterson and her life partner, Doreen Flynn, of Clinton, Mass., and

Theresa Arms of Bangor; and his faithful dog, Peanut, his shadow; Harvey cherished his ever growing family, his six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren (of which one was blessed to share a birthday with him for 19 years); one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Harvey was predeceased by the love of his life, his beloved wife of 44 years, Elizabeth Thurlow; his son, George; his daughter, Linda; his sister, Eva; and his brother, Reginald.

The family wishes to thank the members of the Community of Christ Church for their unyielding support during the last two years.
