LEWISTON — Norman F. Doiron, 89, of Jay, passed away Tuesday, July 24, at Russell Park Manor.
He was born April 4, 1923, in Jay, the son of Stanislaus and Eugenie “Jennie” Ouellette Doiron. He was raised and educated in Jay. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Merchant Marines and enlisted in the U.S. Army. On Oct. 8, 1955, he married Lorraine M. Lauzier.
Norman spent most of his career working for IBEW as a master electrician and in his retirement years he was very active locally in Democratic politics. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay and member of Knights of Columbus. He loved fishing, gardening, a good lobster roll, was an avid reader of history and science and was also a Red Sox fan. Norman was a loving and devoted husband and father and always willing to lend a hand to family and friends.
He is survived by daughters, Dawn Doiron and partner, Phil McElhill, of Portland, Deanne “Dee” Millett and husband, Bill, of Scarborough and Denise Acritelli and husband, Bill, of Jay; one sister, Pauline Flagg of Jay; three brothers, twin brother, Armand “Mike” Doiron and Richard “Dick” Doiron and wife, Phyllis, of Jay and retired Col. Nicholas Doiron and Joyce, of Sacramento, Calif.; five beloved grandchildren, Keith Doiron, Tyler and Rachael Millett and Emily and Allison Acritelli; and many nieces and nephews; and special companion and friend, Betty Korhonen.
Norman was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Lorraine; his sister, Ruth Herring; and brothers, Ludger, Camillio, Vincent, Reginald and Rene Doiron.
