On May 17, Lewiston Middle School eighth graders Machaela Laramee, second from left, and Jordyn Carr, third from left, were honored at the Maine Middle Level Education Association Awards Dinner held at the Augusta Civic Center. They were chosen by staff based on their contributions to the school community. The award is presented to only two students from each middle school in Maine and is based on the following criteria: excellent attitude towards learning, providing service to classmates and school, being a positive role model for peers, taking responsibility for own behavior and learning, showing respect for self and others, demonstrating academic initiative, demonstrating leadership in the classroom and school activities and exemplifying qualities of character and integrity. Jordyn and Machaela were accompanied by their parents and teachers Michel Courchesne, LMS French teacher, left, and Sue Reny, eighth-grade history teacher, at right.
