MEXICO — The Mexico Public Library will host an American Girl Tea Party for girls ages 6-11 at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the Calvin Lyons Hall, next door to the library.

Those attending will meet American Girl “Molly” and travel back in time to the 1940s. Molly was an American Girl who lived during that era and worked hard to support the World War II troops, by organizing and performing in “Hurray for the USA!” variety shows.

Girls who attend will work on a craft and participate in activities from that era. Cindy Christie of Mexico, a dance instructor, will be the special guest and teach everyone a tap dance. A tea party, with real china cups, and light refreshments will be served.

Every girl who attends may enter a drawing for a miniature collectible Molly doll and introductory book, “Meet Molly.”

Any American Girl dolls are invited to attend with their owners. Although not necessary, girls are invited to dress in the style of clothing that was popular for girls in the 1940s. RSVPs are encouraged and appreciated by Tuesday, Aug. 7. For more info, call 364-3281 or inquire at the Circulation Desk.
