DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for someone who can replace a missing porcelain or ceramic leg for a doll I have. I would prefer local if possible. Can be either from salvage or a broken doll for parts. Thank you. — R.B., Lewiston

ANSWER: Sun Spots has two in her Rolodex:

* Linda Tibbetts, Special Place for Dolls, Wales, 375-7255

* Faye Mercier, Dixfield, 562-4549

There was a story in the Sun Journal on July 2 about Tibbetts and how she makes parts for the dolls. You can read it at http://tinyurl.com/dy2esda.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I hope you can come up with the answer to my problem. The boiler shut itself off. There is a switch on the wall going down to the basement. Since I didn’t turn it off and I am the only one here, what happened?

The service man didn’t know. The boiler is on all year because it heats the hot water besides heating the house. This is going to be a mystery and one for the books. — Maureen Miller, Lewiston

ANSWER: Sun Spots can’t be sure, but she suspects you turned it off accidentally or absentmindedly. Sun Spots did that once at her father-in-law’s house. The switch for the boiler and the light were near each other, and she flicked the wrong one. Another possibility is that you bumped up against it carrying something up or down the stairs.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My son is a huge fan of Travis Pastrana, the Supercross/XGames superstar. He would like to write to him, but we haven’t been able to locate an address for him. Could you help us with this please? Lis Morris, mmorris@cmogroup.org

ANSWER: Sun Spots found the following online, but she cannot be sure it’s going to achieve the results you would like. Celebrities often don’t respond; hopefully your son won’t be disappointed. Travis also has a website where he posts what’s going on his life: www.travispastrana.com.

Travis Pastrana, Wasserman Media Group LLC, 10960 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 2200, Los Angeles, CA 90024

DEAR SUNSPOTS: You are always ready for a question, and I hope you can answer this one. Where can you find me a telephone number or an address for Dr. Oz? I watch his show, and I’d like to ask him a question. Thank you so much. — mem6pep@mailstation.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots has not had much luck finding any firm mailing address for Dr. Oz. Like many celebrities, he prefers communicating through his website. That way there’s no risk of envelopes with anthrax or other unpleasantness from unhappy fans.

He’s made it quite easy to ask questions online. You don’t need to be an Internet guru to ask your question online. Sun Spots got your letter via email, so you have Internet access.

You can put the address, www.doctoroz.com/ask, in Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox or whatever browser you use, and it will take you there. Of, if you go to your Start menu on many Windows computers, one of the choices will be “run.” Just type www.doctoroz.com/ask in that window.

For traditional mail, Sun Spots found the following, but she’s not sure they’ll work.

* New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia Milstein Hospital, Bldg. Room 7 GN 435, 177 Fort Washington Ave., New York, NY 10032

* NBC Studios, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 49th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues, New York, NY 10112

DEAR SUN SPOTS: A couple of weeks ago, I found a large piece of cardboard in my front yard on Minot Avenue. On it were a series of old family photos, a little damaged, but I thought someone might be looking for it.

The photos are of Frank Rossi, from 1925, baby Nonnie, Rosalie, etc. — Suzanne, Lewiston

ANSWER: Suzanne will bring the photos to the Sun Journal, where they will be available for pickup as of Tuesday. If it’s yours, go to the customer service desk at 104 Park St. between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays and tell them at the front desk that the item has been stored in where the night switchboard used to be.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for some model kits for my son. I would like to see if anyone has any unbuilt ones they would like to get rid of for a reasonable price. My son enjoys his new hobby. — Penny, Oxford, 743-5077
