LEWISTON — Hiroko Thomas passed away at 5 p.m. Aug. 1, with her husband by her side.

She was born in Nagasaki, Japan, Sept. 25, 1933, the oldest of five children to Kurakichi and Kimiko Matsubara.

She married Roger Thomas at Fukaoka, Japan, Sept. 7, 1963, and arrived in the United States on Jan. 16, 1966. She became a U.S. citizen on Aug. 10, 1984.

She and her husband traveled to many U.S. states while he was in the U.S. Navy — a career veteran of 20 years. They had no children, but loved many.

She loved all animals and most of all her pet poodle “Chibe” which she had for 17 years.

She will be missed by all who knew or loved her.
