AUBURN — Lewis R. Doustou, 76, of 30 Hill Valley Road, Poland, and formerly of 5 Toby Place, Lewiston, died in Auburn on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.

He was born in Renaud, P.Q., Canada, the son of Onesime and Sara Soucy Doustou. Educated in Canadian and local schools, he married the former Georgette Y. Nadeau on April 24, 1954. Mrs. Doustou passed away on Dec. 26, 2007.

He served in the National Guard for 20 years, and was employed as a salesman for Lamey-Wellehan Shoes for 35 years. A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, he also belonged to the Eagles Club, and enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He had a kind and gentle spirit which was always evident through his ever-present smile.

He is survived by three sons, Ronald of Poland, Richard and wife, Diane, of Turner and Robert of Poland; two brothers, Raymond and Wilfred, both of Lewiston; a sister, Rosita Doustou of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Kelly Steckino and husband, Jason, Leanna Cain, Jenalee Hill and husband, William, Kyle Doustou and Nicole Doustou; eight great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Doustou, Michael, Seth, and Cassie Steckino, Baylee and Lucy Cain, and Ashaunte and Jordin Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
