Once again, Congress is gridlocked concerning the federal budget. The deadline is the end of December. Precious few members are fighting hard to do what is right for this country. They are outnumbered. That leaves the rest of us out in the cold.
Where is our representation?
Congress was created to provide a checks-and-balances form of government. Apparently, the only checking being done is to the balance of their own bank accounts.
Money has been tucked away in foundations, trusts and off-shore accounts to avoid paying taxes. The Bible says, “To whom much has been given, much is required.” Seemingly, that principle is being ignored.
It is a conflict of interest for Congress to vote itself a raise. Try that with your employer and see how it goes, that is if you even have a job.
Here is an idea: Gather together the greedy and self-serving from all walks of life. Give them some training and equipment. Send them to Afghanistan or other trouble spots in the world. Let them get a taste of what it is really like to serve this country.
