DEAR SUN SPOTS: My husband went to St. Mary’s Emergency Room on Wednesday, July 25. In all the trauma he lost his gold chain with a fireman’s cross. If someone found it, please call me at 576-0114. We would be forever grateful. — Connie, Lewiston

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I need your help. You recommended Steve Martelli to sell stuff on eBay. He did a great job of some stuff for us. We did get some money for some that he sold, but we’re still waiting for more money. It’s been about two months, and we’ve been unable to get him on the phone or email that you gave. — Jim Dymond, Lisbon

ANSWER: Sun Spots contacted Stephen, who said he’s had some difficulties, including a computer virus that ate all of his data, thus the difficulty in contacting you. He is making some changes in his business and will not be available for eBay sales for a while. Meanwhile, he promised to get in touch with you immediately and fix whatever issues you have. Others who have outstanding sales can reach him at [email protected].

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Where do they print the answers to the “Can you identify this” photos? — Margaret Tyler, [email protected]

ANSWER: The answers to the previous questions appear on the same page as the new questions in the b Section on Sundays.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for anyone who has information about a cat that has been visiting my home for several months. I need to know if she belongs to anyone around Dyer Road, as winter will be here soon, and I worry about her.

She is all white in the front and calico colors in the back, feet and tail. I call her Laverne. I would like to know if she has a home or is a stray. She won’t come in the house, but comes to my back deck every day for food.

Please call me at 783-8136 or 344-3069. — No Name, Lewiston

ANSWER: How sweet of you to worry about the poor kitty. So many pets are looking for homes these days. Sun Spots worries about them all.

As not everyone reads this column — woe to them! — you might want to put together a flier with her photo on it and drop it off at your neighbors’ homes. Even if Laverne doesn’t belong to them, one of them may know if a previous resident moved away and left her behind.

Meanwhile, you might want to give her a place to sleep by putting a cardboard box on your deck. Leave just a small opening for her to enter and place a blanket you have used recently inside the box. If Laverne doesn’t have a home and you adopt her, she will become comfortable with your scent from the blanket and may come to you more easily.

You might also want to check with your animal control officer and local shelters to see if anyone is looking for Laverne. But chances are she is just one more “disposable” cat, but lucky to have met a kind potential owner.
