1955 – 2012

AUBURN — Karen Hanrahan, 57, went home to be with Jesus on Aug. 3, 2012, after a long battle with diabetes.

She was born April 1, 1955, to Daniel and Mary (Orban) Hanrahan. She was raised in Enfield, Conn., and went to St. Francis School of Nursing in Hartford, Conn.

Karen met, and then married the love of her life, Harlan Emery, on Dec. 15, 1979. Karen was a loving mother to her two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarah.

She worked as a nurse for many years in hospitals and home health nursing. Karen was a longtime member of the Pathway Vineyard in Lewiston. She enjoyed taking vacations with her family and friends, traveling to Scotland, Ireland, and the Greek Isles; as well as the Caribbean, Cape Cod, and Disney World with her granddaughter.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harlan, her parents, Daniel and Mary, and her in-laws Harlan and Mildred Emery.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth, and her husband, Peter Lederhouse, and Sarah Bly and her boyfriend, Bob Lavallee; her sister Danielle Hanrahan and her partner, Elaine Wintman; and her beautiful granddaughter, Kathleen Lederhouse. Karen also is survived by her brother-in-law, Scott Emery and his wife, Sharon; her niece Errin Williams and husband, Christopher of Fritch, Texas, and their children, Javan and Chloe; her nephew, Brian Emery; her brother, Michael Hanrahan and his wife, Karen, of Broadbrook, Conn.; and their children, Nathanial Hanrahan and his wife, Rebecca, of Trafalger, Ind., and Michael Hanrahan and his wife, Tesla, of Tacoma, Wash.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends.
