AUBURN — Lyle Douglas Bloom died Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Hospice House, after a short battle with cancer.
He was born April 3, 1948, to Mary and Louis Bloom of Johnstown, Pa. After living in Ann Arbor, Mich., San Francisco, Calif. and Tempe, Ariz., he settled in Auburn, beginning a 24-year career at Geiger Brothers as a copy editor and proofreader. He was very proud of his work on each year’s Farmer’s Almanac.
Lyle was an avid photographer. Often using vintage cameras, he took pictures, developed film and made prints in his own darkroom. He loved books, music and his cat.
He is survived by his “favorite” niece, Jennifer Bloom of Portland; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Bloom of Auburn; and several dear friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Leslie; and cat, Lady Blue.
