LIVERMORE FALLS — Scott A. Tainter, 47, of Livermore Falls, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, at his home in Livermore Falls surrounded by a tremendous amount of family and friends.

He was born April 10, 1965, in Augusta, a son of Donald Ralph Tainter and Sherry (Dube) Stevens. He attended Fayette and Livermore Falls schools, graduating from Livermore Falls High School in 1983.

On May 7, 1988, he married his high school sweetheart, Leslie Greenleaf, at the Bates Chapel in Lewiston. His home and family meant everything in the world to him.

He has been employed at Rowe Auburn since November 1987, most recently as the Assistant Parts Manager, where his co-workers were a source of great support to him and his family throughout his illness.

Scott was a member of the Oriental Star Masonic Lodge No. 21 in Livermore Falls and was a founder of the Maine Mustang club. He was a passionate sports fan, especially hockey and baseball. The Boston Bruins, Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox were his favorite teams. There was nothing he loved more than watching the Boston Bruins win the Stanley Cup in 2011.

Scott enjoyed cars, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, flower gardens, guns and “fire power” in general. Most notably however, he was a fan of his son, Josh’s sports endeavors and coached for several years in Area Youth Sports in the Livermore Falls area including baseball at all levels, football, soccer. He also participated and coached the Maine Bulldogs roller hockey teams, traveling all over the country.

He will be missed by many for his witty sense of humor, his one liners and quiet wisdom. He will be especially missed by his 8-year-old neighbor, Carter, who considered him his “best friend.”

He is survived by his wife, Leslie Tainter of Livermore Falls; his mother, Sherry Stevens and her longtime companion, Barry Wright, of Livermore Falls; his father, Errol Stevens and his wife, Beverly, of Fayette; his son, Joshua Tainter and his longtime, girlfriend, Brittany Souther, of Livermore Falls; his mother-in-law, Donna Greenleaf of Livermore Falls; brothers, Donny Tainter and his companion, Robert McCoy, of Old Orchard Beach, and Eric Stevens and his wife, Hope, of Fayette; a sister, Diane Pepper and her husband, David, of Belgrade; several step-brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews, Crystal Palleshi and her fiance, Dan St. Laurent, of Mt. Vernon, Michael McLaughlin of Randolph, Samantha Ouellette of Lewiston, Anakin and Logan Stevens of Fayette; very close and special friends, Krista and Bill White and their children, Chandler, Liz and Kyla; Lisa and Mark Holt and their daughter, Mikala; Tammy and Roger Ferland and their daughters, Katie and Cassie.

He was predeceased by his father, Donald in 1989; his sister, Valerie Carr in 2008; his father-in-law, L. Stephen Greenleaf in 2011.

The family would like to send a special “thank you” to Dr. Thrower, Dr. Wooden, Androscoggin Hospice nurses and all the many friends spending numerous hours helping care for him.
