NEW GLOUCESTER — Several workshops will be held at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village, Route 26, on Saturday, Aug. 18.

R & R Spinners will hold a demonstration of their spinning talents and creations on beginning at 10 a.m. It is free and open to the public.

A quilted table runner and basket liner will be topics at a workshop the same day. Those attending will need a sewing machine. The fee is $30 and preregistration is required.
 
Dovetail layout procedures, techniques and tricks will be taught at a workshop from 9 a.m. to noon. The instructor will be craftsman Chris Becksvoort. Special tools are required. The fee is $35 and preregistration is required. Dovetail class is required for the Aug. 25 two-step stool workshop. 
 
 
Participants will learn how to make a 22-inch high white pine Shaker-style stool in that Saturday, Aug. 25, session. Becksvoort will be instructor. The fee is $45 and special tools are required. Space is limited and preregistration required.
