CANTON — Harold ‘Okie’ Jones, 74, died Saturday, Aug. 11, peacefully, with his family by his side, at his residence on the Jewett Hill Road, Canton.
He was born in Rumford, on May 27, 1938, a son of Samuel Harris Jones and V. Marguerite Russ, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford. He served in the U.S. Navy. Okie worked at the Bath shipyard as an electrician for many years. He was a member of the ACLJ and the International Fellowship for Christians and Jews.
He was married in Canton, in 2001, to Gloria Libby, who survives, of Canton. Other survivers include stepsons, Jeffrey Kilbreth and wife, Lisa of Albuquerque, N.M. and Scott Kilbreth and wife, Jackie of Canton; stepgrandchildren, Katie and Joseph Kilbreth and companion, Caitlin O’Connell and Libby Irish and husband, Jason; step-great-grandchild, Jacob Irish; sisters, Helen Maley of Mexico and Nora Babb of Plantersville, Miss.; brothers, Walter of Rumford and Herman Jones of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Alice Jones of Rhode Island.
