LEWISTON — The L/A Cash Mob struck the Twin Cities again, this time supporting Dube’s Flower Shop in downtown Lewiston.

A locally owned and operated business since 1936, Dube’s Flower Shop, 195 Lisbon St., saw the support of more than 30 cash mobbers Thursday evening.

“I think the news is out,” said co-event organizer Travis Dow. “When you support local, the money stays in the community.”

Designed to provide an economic boost to a local business, cash mobs consist of shoppers patronizing the business with cash in hand. Primarily organized through social media, the secret of the location isn’t released until just minutes before the event.

The event wasn’t a surprise to owner Skip Girouard, who had been contacted the week before by organizers.

Although no dates have been set for the next mob, Dow and Lafrance said plans are already in the works. “Now that we have another one under our belts, we’ll be taking nominations for the next business to be mobbed,” Dow said.
