HEBRON — The 27th annual reunion of the Warren family was held July 15 at Hebron Pines RV and Golf Course. It was a gathering of the descendants of the late F. Milton and Verlie Warren.
Two hundred five people were in attendance from Auburn, Brownfield, Buckfield, Casco, Chesterville, Gardiner, Gorham, Greene, Hebron, Hollis, Jay, Leeds, Lewiston, Lisbon, Lisbon Falls, Monmouth, Sabattus, Sanford, South Paris, South Portland, Sumner, Turner, Waterboro, Wayne, Wells, Winthrop, New York City, Brockton, Mass., Derry, N.H., Alexandria, Va., and Oberlin, Ohio.
Heidi Warren Vayda of Oberin, Ohio, came the farthest distance. Walter Warren was the oldest member in attendance. Natalie Ann Clifford, born June 14 to Laura and Dean Clifford of Sabattus, was the youngest member.
During the past year, there were eight weddings, 13 births, eight high school graduations and three college graduations. Essays on the subject of family were read aloud, which had been written by Maria Hood, Ashley Hutchinson, Emma Warren, Levi Hooper, Alex Warren and Levi Knapp. These six high school graduates were awarded $100 scholarships for college.
After a brief business meeting, Walter Warren announced that the Jones family had won the golf tournament. He also shared some poems written by an old-time mail carrier, Bert Hutchinson. Helen Hadley’s family sang “Fill My Cup, Lord” and “Shall We Gather at the River?” The 40-year marriage of Joe and Donna Warren was celebrated
The annual fundraising auction was conducted by Errol Additon. In addition to homemade baked goods, there were two large handmade items: a braided rug by Esther Robinson, which sold for $300, and a quilt by Regina Hutchinson, which sold for $360.
The total family count to date is 412.
Next year’s reunion will be held Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the home of Rhonda Reid in Hebron.
