BETHEL — The Cape Breton group Coig will bring its Celtic rock with vocals, instrumentals and comedy to Bingham Hall at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Coig (Scottish Gaelic for “5”) will also perform at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in Carthage; and at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at Unity College’s Center for the Performing Arts.

Coig was originally formed in 2010 as part of a promotional tour for Cape Breton’s Celtic Colours International Festival. That tour, called “A Taste of Celtic Colours,” included many stops in New Hampshire and Maine, finishing up with an engagement in Bangor at the 2010 American Folk Festival.

Members of the group — Colin Grant, Chrissy Crowley, Darren McMullen, Rachel Davis and Jason Roach — will be featured at the world’s largest Irish festival in Milwaukee on Aug. 16-19.

Grant has toured steadily both as a solo performer and as a member of Sprag Session, formerly the Colin Grant Band. Grant is motivated, he says, by a respect for traditional style and a drive to take the Celtic fiddle to new places.

Crowley is known for her original compositions coupled with contemporary arrangements of traditional tunes. She has an impressive list of awards, nominations and international appearances.

Davis, a fiddler who plays traditional Celtic tunes in a traditional way, performs at  many venues, from international festivals to small dances at home. She has toured for several years in Maine with master Cape Breton songwriter and entertainer Buddy MacDonald.

Roach is a pianist whose intensity on the keys and driving rhythms have made him  popular in Celtic circles both here and abroad. McMullen is a sought-after, multi-instrumentalist who switches easily between guitar, mandolin, whistle and banjo.

Busy solo appearances do not allow these five musicians to play together on-stage very often.

For tickets, $15 at the door, call  Skye Theatre at 562-4445, UCCPA at 948-7469 or the Mahoosuc Arts Council at 824-3575. Bingham Hall is at 45 Church St., Bethel. Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive in South Carthage. UCCPA is at 42 Depot St., Unity.
