PARIS — The Paris Hill Historical Society will host a presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, on the clock in the Paris Hill First Baptist Church tower.

Don Adamson, who has been winding and maintaining the clock for more than 40 years, will talk about the history of the clock, how it is wound and its care and maintenance.

“Climbing into the tower every seven days, he knows every nook and cranny of the tower, the mechanics of the movements, and the ringing of the bell which peals out over the village every hour,” said Nancy Schlanser in a statement advertising the event.

Participants will be able to experience the sound and shaking of the bell while inside the sanctuary of the church and see photos, old and new, of the clock.

The First Baptist Church is on Paris Hill Road at the corner of Hannibal Hamlin Drive and Paris Hill Road. The public is invited to attend. Admission is free, but donations to the clock fund are appreciated.

Contact Nancy Schlanser at 743-0359 for more information.
