NAPLES, Fla. — Joseph O. “Pa” Caron, 82, a longtime resident of Naples, Fla., Lewiston and Rumford, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 12, at Vitas Hospice in Naples.

He was born in Rumford, the son of Omer Caron and Mary Millar. Pa graduated Mexico High School in 1947. He worked for the A&P in Rumford until he joined the Air Force in 1951. He served until 1954 when he returned to the Rumford/Mexico area.

Pa went to work for New England Telephone and was transferred to Lewiston in 1963. In 1965, he became a partner in L&A Tire until he retired in 1988, and moved to Naples. Even in retirement, he continued to work hard with the Countryside Homeowner’s Association.

A wonderful family man and a tireless worker, Pa would do anything for family and friends. He was very resourceful; if it was broken it could be fixed with Superglue. His greatest pleasure was a family gathering, although the 2004 Red Sox World Series victory came close.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Caron; children, Denise (Tony McDonald) Caron of South Freeport, Mark (Sally) Caron of Lafayette Calif., Patricia (Tom Eaken) Caron and Melissa Giddings, all of Naples, Fla.; granddaughters, Kate McDonald, Courtney and Carly Giddings; and sister, Barbara (Will) Gagnon of Rumford.
