GILEAD — Maine Wing Cadet Programs will hold its encampment starting on Aug. 16 and ending on Aug. 25, at Bog Brook TS.

The encampment will offer training, flight opportunities, survival instruction and the chance to grow as a person.

The 11 days of encampment will be held in the White Mountain National Forest. This Army Guard facility provides an excellent place for cadets to meet, work together and practice their skills.

Cadets who participated in the encampment in years past will be back at staff positions.

First year cadets classes will include American Red Cross Basic First Aid and CPR, CAP Radio Operator permit and map and compass. A second year cadet can elect a more advanced training.

Orientation flights will be offered by the Maine Wing pilots in CAP planes. One of the favorite activities will be the overnight camp and rappelling if the cadet is eligible.

Cadets from wings other than Maine are eligible to attend. Graduation will be held on Aug. 25. The Director of Cadet Programs is Capt. Nathan Fellows.
