Public skates start Sunday

BRIDGTON — Public skating at the Bridgton Ice Arena will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sundays and Wednesdays in August beginning Aug. 19.

Adults $4, students $3, children under 6 $2, seniors 62 and older $2, stick ‘n puck $5, rentals $4.

Conflicts arise on occasion; call to confirm. For information concerning adult leagues, learn to skate, scheduling and all other programs, contact rink manager Steve Ryan at 647-7637.

BCC plans yard sale

BRIDGTON — Bridgton Community Center will hold a yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at 15 Depot St. Furniture, glassware, books, vinyl, video and more. For information, call 647-3116.

Yard, food sale Aug. 25

LOCKE MILLS —  A yard sale and food sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Locke Mills Union Church.

Eight-tent yard sale

NORWAY —  Second Congregational Church will hold its 12th annual Tents and Treasure Yard Sale on Saturday, Aug. 25, starting at 7:30 a.m.

This year there are eight huge tents which will fill the entire church parking lot, with something for everyone. Items will be very reasonably priced, clean and in working order. There will also be a table filled with baked goods, baked beans and fresh produce.

No early birds or previews, but coffee and doughnuts will be sold starting at 6:30 a.m. for eager shoppers.

There is still time to drop off items for sale until Sunday, Aug. 19. Donations may be left in the parsonage barn or contact the church for pick up of larger items.

4-H auction to be Aug. 25

OXFORD — The Take-A-Chance Auction presented by the Oxford County 4-H Teen Exchange and Career Club will take place on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Oxford Hills Middle School. OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society will have a yard and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Kay House, Pleasant Street.

Jones band at Legion dance

PARIS — Jones Dance Band will play old-fashioned dance music from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25. The cost is $5 and the event will be held at the Legion Hall.

Poker run, ATV pulling

WATERFORD — The Pulpit Rock Trail Blazah’s ATV club will hold a Poker Run and ATV Pulling event on Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Waterford Fairgrounds. Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m.

Cryptogram time change

PARIS — Paris Public Library will host its next Cryptogram Challenge at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27. Previously the challenge had been held at 10:30.

PARIS — Oxford Hills Adult Education will hold a College Transition Orientation Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive high school for those thinking of going to college.
