It was sad to read Linda Anthony’s letter to the editor (Aug. 9) and the comments having to do with the work of Gov. Paul LePage.

The news conference by Gov. LePage dealing with the introduction of the education reform program “ABC” was developed in response to the Harvard study of state growth increases from 1992 to 2011. That Harvard study measured state education growth, not comparisons of test scores.

Maine has been between third and 12th these 20 years. The state is not third from the bottom, as Gov. LePage asserts. The closer you are to the top, the more difficult it is to gain, as we note with Olympic athletes.

This appears to be the same ruse of a “created crisis” that was used in the Maine State Retirement System, Maine Benefits Trust and the MaineCare debacles.
