LEWISTON/JAY — The Maine Savvy Caregiver Program is a free six-week educational program for individuals caring for someone with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia in the home setting.

The program will be held in Lewiston and Jay and will run for two hours a week for six consecutive weeks. Classes will be held Wednesdays, starting Aug. 22, and running through Sept. 26 at Montello Heights, 550 College St., Lewiston, and at the Jay-Niles Library in Jay.

The program will provide caregivers with the tools, tips and strategies to effectively deal with challenging behaviors associated with dementia, deal with the stress of caregiving and improve the quality of life for both caregiver and care recipient.

This highly popular program is sponsored by the Office of Aging and Disability Services, Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
