RUMFORD — Anne Henry McKay, 78, formerly of Dixfield, passed away on Friday, Aug. 17, at Rumford Hospital, with loving family at her side.
She was born in Mexico, Jan. 15, 1934, a daughter of Kenneth O. and Sylvia Dalessio Henry.
Anne was educated in Mexico Schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1952. She later received an associates degree from Mid State College.
After working several positions in the area, she retired in 1994, as a caseworker for the Dept. of Human Services in Lewiston. Her retirement years were not idle, as she held part-time positions first with Teena’s Restaurant and later with Walmart.
She married Owen Robert McKay in 1996; he passed away Feb. 16, 1998. She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
Anne was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed going to craft shows, exhibiting her handmade doll clothes. She also loved knitting, golfing, hunting, fishing and oil painting.
Surviving are her children, Stephen G. Mayo and wife, Bridget of Center Conway, N.H., Catherine Mayo Jarosz and husband. John of Leicester, N.C., Daniel F. Mayo and wife. Tammy of Peru, Robert J. Mayo of Rumford and Joseph G. Mayo of Spartanburg, S.C.; five grandchildren, Brandon, Bethany, Jamie and husband, Clyde, Ryan and Jessica; and three great-grandchildren, Corey, Cody and Samantha.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Robert Henry.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at the Rumford Community Home, where she had been a resident for the past four years.
