LEWISTON — George C. Rogers, 79, a resident of Auburn, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, Aug. 19, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 10, 1932, in Sanford, the son of George and Adelaide Bumford Rogers.

George was a graduate of Sanford High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Aug. 2, 1969, in Livermore, he married his wife of 43 years, Barbara Bryant.

George worked for the Maine Unemployment Department for 32 years, retiring in 1996. Following his retirement, he went to work at Walmart from 1997-2010. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and sports of all types.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Rogers of Auburn; his son, Tim Rogers and his companion, Tracey Chute; and grandchildren, Deven and Dakota Rogers, Austin, Jordan, and Haley Chute, all of Oxford; brother-in-law, Ken Bryant and his wife, Norma, of Sanford; sister-in-law, Jean Tardif and her husband, Tom, of Livermore; nieces, Kristen Bryant and fiance, Bobby, of Sanford and Shannon Tardif of Livermore; and nephew, Travis Tardif, and great-nephew, Dominic Tardif, both of Livermore.

He was predeceased by his parents; his infant son, Michael; his infant daughter, Michelle; his sister; and two stepsisters.
