I’ve known Bettyann Sheats for approximately three years. We met each other through volunteering.

We both worked on restoring same-day voter registration. She has also worked to help ban bisphenol-A in baby bottles and works on “fill the bus” for the food pantry, among other things.

We discovered that we were both stationed at the Illesheim, Germany, Army base at different times. Then I found out that she is a West Point graduate and helicopter pilot. She was also a competitive sky diver while in the Army.

The governor’s budget, with tax cuts favoring the wealthy and reckless cuts, will shift the tax burden to the local level. Bettyann will have a more thoughtful approach.

She will provide leadership and teamwork, using her Army and small business experience. She also owns her own small business.

I hope that voters in Auburn’s District 68 will support Bettyann Sheats for the Maine House.
