AUBURN — Lorraine Lizotte, 77, of Lewiston, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lewiston Oct. 2, 1934, a daughter of the late Edward and Malvina Fortin Merrow. She attended local schools and was proud to have earned and received her high school diploma. On March 7, 1959, she married the love of her life, Arthur Lizotte Jr. Together they worked and raised their young family in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

She worked for several years in the shoe industry and later on as a DSP for the John Murphy Home, a work of love she truly enjoyed. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish until its closing in recent years. She was a member of the Pastime Club and served as a board member in the past. She was also a member of the 20 M Club.

Lorraine loved playing cribbage and served as the Cribbage Club treasurer. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making mittens and stockings for her children and grandchildren. She made Barbie dolls and worked with plastic canvas, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Lorraine was known as “Memere” or “Ma” to all who knew her because she was always helpful and welcoming to all who came to her door.

Lorraine is survived by her husband of 53 years, Arthur Lizotte Jr.; four children, Michael Lizotte of Lewiston, Debra-Ann Lake and her boyfriend, Marty Nadeau, of Auburn, Norman Lizotte and his wife, Tina, of Mechanic Falls, and Donna-Lee Lizotte and her partner, Melissa Benner, of Greene; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Maureen Lake, Kimberly Lake, Ryan, Brittany and Noah Lizotte and Shelby Lizotte, step-granddaughters, Abby and Danielle Proctor; seven great-grandchildren, Mariah, Lily, Daisy, Kaleb, Kooper, Zayden, Abrielle and, due later this month, Zoey; two brothers, Raymond Merrow and his wife, Shirley, Richard Merrow and girlfriend, Rita Mathon; and one sister, Nancy Lagueux and her husband, Richard; and many nieces and nephews; also a very special cousin, Pauline Albert.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Malvina Fortin Merrow.
