Thanks to the strong leadership of Sen. Lois Snowe-Mello and her colleagues, Maine is finally moving away from welfare dependency and toward self sufficiency.
Snowe-Mello and others have finally established a five-year time limit (with hardship exceptions) for welfare recipients, and implemented drug testing for convicted felons.
To help struggling families, 70,000 low-income taxpayers have been relieved from having to pay Maine income taxes altogether.
We need Lois and like-minded legislators to be re-elected.
