FARMINGTON — Charlotte M. Russell, 89, of Canton, went to be with the Lord late Saturday, Aug. 18, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 6, 1923, in Bar Harbor, a daughter of Harold and Ella (Snow) Bracy and attended Bar Harbor schools. In 1948, she married Gilbert Russell and raised three stepdaughters, Cynthia Johnson, Gilberta Stover and Glenda Goding. Mrs. Russell worked at Humpty Dumpty in Scarborough, until she became a full-time housewife and mother; she also raised six foster children.
Charlotte was a very caring person to everyone and she faithfully attended Victory Christian Church in Livermore. She enjoyed playing many different card games with her family. She was a member of the Dixfield American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Goding and her husband, Bob, of Canton; sisters, Helen of California, and Althea Gordon and her husband, Bill, of Waterville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert; stepdaughters, Cynthia Johnson and Gilberta Stover; grandchildren, David Noyes and Ken Johnson; stepgranddaughter, Julie Goding; four brothers, Leslie, Cecil, Bob and Ken; and three sisters, Rosalie, Hazel and Lillian.
