The whole question of accidents on Route 4 is not hard to figure out.
By Lake Auburn, the speed limit changes from 40 to 55 mph, but 65 mph is the new 55 along this stretch. Add that along with distracted driving, whether it be talking on the cell phone or texting, and you’re looking at problems.
It would seem that any sensible person seeing a vehicle with a turn signal on or slowing down, or even being in an area where sudden turns could take place, would take appropriate action. But if you’re doing something else while driving at that speed, it’s kind of hard.
It’s not just Route 4. There have been several accidents on Court Street in the last week. Same items causes: speed, distracted driving. It’s not going to change until people start paying attention to the basic speed laws and use some common sense.
One final item is people have no idea what being considerate is. They’re all in a hurry to get where they’re going, so get out of their way.
It’s not just driving, but everywhere. People let store doors shut on disabled people or make rude comments because they’re not moving fast enough.
Wait, you to might end up in the same situation some day.
