GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Senior Chief Robert John “Bob” Currier (Ret. USN), of Omaha, Neb., passed away surrounded by family, on Aug. 16, at the Grand Island Veterans’ Home after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Robert was born in Jay, Feb. 1, 1947, to Eileen (Meader) Currier and John “Jack” Currier. He attended Jay schools. He was highly decorated, serving 27 years in the Navy, including three tours of duty in Vietnam, retiring in 1993.

He is survived by his children, Susan Moors of Rumford, Tammy Currier-Hagood and fiance, Mark Thomas, of Deport, Texas, Tanya Wilson and husband, Kevin, of Bogata, Texas, and Alyssa Currier and Travis Currier, of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Cynthia Jackson of Cheyenne, Wyo., Deborah and husband, Phil Buker, of Standish, Susan and husband, Bill Pate, of Russellville, Ark., and Nancy and husband, Ernie Vonberg, of Green River, Wyo.; brothers, Tim and fiancee, Francine Phillips, of Franklin, Ohio, and Rich of Rock Springs, Wyo.; and many other loving family members.

He was predeceased by his parents of Rock Springs, Wyo.; and his grandparents of Jay.
