I am curious to know how many innocent victims were harassed during Operation Hot Spots on Aug. 3. The front page article only mentioned persons arrested. How many people in that area were stopped, questioned and subsequently released without any finding?

The feeling I got from this article is that if you frequent these areas, you are up to no good. It’s too bad how our society and corresponding laws dictate how people are profiled just by where we live.

If I’m walking the streets and not breaking the law, I do not want to be bothered by the law any more than by a drug dealer.

The article’s picture also fails to show the DEA agent’s face or provide his name, which is most likely on purpose. Wouldn’t it only be fair to know this so we could avoid him violating our constitutional rights?

Maybe I could ask the people who were arrested. Rehab, not jail, will only help these people in the future. But there should be no leniency toward criminals when they over-step the boundaries of innocent victims.

If it’s not the peddling drug dealers, it’s the cops who are going to drive more people out of town.
