1931 – 2012

LEWISTON — Florence M. Corey, 81, formerly of Auburn, died Tuesday at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion with her family by her side following a long illness.

She was born in Auburn, on July 28, 1931, the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Rollins) Keene.

Florence was a member of Court Street Baptist Church as well as a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star, Pine Cone Chapter No. 26. Later in life, she went back to school, which she was most proud to earn her GED. She then utilized her education to become a successful certified nurse’s aide in area nursing homes.

Survivors include her stepmother, Jeanne Keene; five daughters, Sandra Greaton and fiance, Bertrand St. Amand, Linda Pelletier, Jan Corey, Judy Reed and Patti Tapley and husband, Gary; seven brothers, Lawrence, Randall, James, Ronald, Danny, Dennis and Donald; and 12 sisters, Edith, Eleanor, Patricia, Margaret, Eugenia, Carol, Brenda, Karen, Linda, Susan, Mary and Theresa. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a lifelong friend, Rita Geary.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy and Phyliss; two brothers, Harold Jr. and Clyde; as well as a son-in-law, Gerard Pelletier.
