LEWISTON — The Pentecostal Urban Youth Outreach, The Jesus Party, is taking registrations for children ages 5 and up for its upcoming fall schedule of events that will be focusing on spiritual wellness.

The ministry is run by Rev. Douglas and Sonia Taylor who hold credentials with the International Fellowship of Ministries based out of Bothell, Wash., and their volunteer staff. The Taylors have been providing services for inner-city children through their faith-based domestic nonprofit organization for the past 17 years.

The children’s chapel is at 291 Bates St. and holds its services every Friday beginning at 6 p.m.

The Jesus Party is announcing their “Annual Back to School Sessions,” that will include a time of praise and worship, prayer, a time for testimonies and an age appropriate children’s sermon that teaches life lessons using Biblical principles. The children are provided snacks and have the opportunity to win door prizes.

Session 1 will be held on Aug. 31, “Promoting Character Building.” The ministry will concentrate on the importance of being a good student through obedience, self-control, honesty and responsibility.

Session 2 will be held on Sept. 7. “Promoting Good Health,” a video produced by Schlessinger Media on nutrition, will be viewed. Children will explore ways of considering balance and moderation when making choices about nutrition. A healthy snack will be provided.

Session 3 will be held on Sept. 14, “Remembering the Tragedy of 9/11.” The ministry will commemorate the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attack on American soil. Children will learn of the patriotic response exhibited in the United States following this horrific event. Patriotic Mentor, Jerry DerBoghosian, will lead the children in the Pledge of Allegiance and patriotic hymns will be sung.
