The Sabattus Knights of Columbus Council 13181 held the tournament to raise money for the council’s high school scholarship program. Prizes were awarded for the largest bass, yellow perch, white perch and pike. Members of Boy Scout Troop 110 cooked breakfast and lunch for participants to raise funds for a trip to Gettysburg. Paul Nolet, left, and C.J. Johnson fished with Butterworth. Although Butterworth did not win for largest pike, he did win for largest bass, with a 4 pound, 8 ounce fish. The other winners included: Dan Fortin for largest pike (8 pounds, 4 ounces); Charles Hunter for largest white perch (1 pound, 13 ounces); Matt Gaydos for largest yellow perch (1 pound, 1 ounce). Ninety-six people participated in the second annual derby, up from 69 participants a year ago. “It was a very successful, beautiful day,” said Anthony Leone, who helped organize the event. The event took place from midnight to 4 p.m. Saturday.
