AUBURN — Mechanics Savings Bank awarded $1,000 Banking on the Future Scholarships to Poland Regional High School graduate Elijah Breton, Edward Little High School graduate Connor Dumont and Lisbon High School’s 2012 salutatorian, Jordan Beauparlant.

Beauparlant is the daughter of Lori Beauparlant Lachance and David Diglio. While attending Lisbon High School, Beauparlant was a Science Olympiad and a member of the National Honor Society. She received the 2012 Lisbon High School Math Award and the 2011 Harvard Book Award.

Beauparlant volunteers with the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach, a local food and clothing pantry, and Samaritan’s Purse — Operation Christmas Child.

This fall, Beauparlant will attend Bentley University in Waltham, Mass., with plans to major in actuarial sciences. She intends to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in 2016 and return to Maine for a career as an actuary.

Breton is the son of Elaine Breton-Thibodeau. He will attend Ithaca College in the fall where he will enroll in the sports management Bachelor of Science program. Breton said, “I am looking forward to learning about the business and marketing of sports. I can’t wait to apply that knowledge and contribute to my community.”

From 2008-11, Breton was a member of Poland Regional High School’s Community and Service Learning Club. In 2011, he volunteered at Clover Manor Nursing Home.

Breton was Poland Regional High School’s class co-president, student body representative and knight writer. The National Honor Society student was involved in speech and debate and drama and brought home awards for each in 2012. He was named 2012 Speech and Debater of the Year and received the 2012 Theatre Award.

During his high school career, Breton also received the Clear and Effective Communicator Award, Knight Writer Award and the Co-Curricular Award. This year, he was the recipient of the Bruce M. Whittier Scholarship, the Franco-American Scholarship and the Ithaca Leadership Scholarship.

Dumont is the son of Rene and Julia Dumont. He graduated third in his class and served as secretary of the National Honor Society, secretary of the Class Executive Board, student representative of the Auburn school committee and student representative for the Edward Little Vision committee. He was a member of the concert band, marching band, pep band and French club.

Dumont volunteered with Park Avenue Elementary PTO, Empty Bowls, and Out of the Darkness Community Walk. He is a Kick-Off mentor and math tutor.

This year, Dumont was recognized by L/A Exchange Club as Edward Little Youth of the Year and Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen. For four consecutive years, he received highest honors  and in 2011 received the Dartmouth College Alumni Book Award.

Dumont will begin his undergraduate degree in mathematics at Bowdoin College this fall and plans to become a high school math teacher.
