LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Gertrude A. Freteschi was celebrated Monday by Monsignor Marc Caron at Holy Cross Church of the Prince of Peace Parish following prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. At the beginning of Mass, Gertrude’s great-grandsons, Ron, Chase, and Tanor Bourgoin as well as Rich Belanger draped their great-grandmother’s casket with a white burial cloth that signifies Gertrude’s Baptism in a new spiritual life with God. A Scripture reading was read by Gertrude’s granddaughter, Sandy Lally. The prayer of the faithful was recited by grandaughter, Sherri Bourgoin. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by granddaughters, Brenda Theberge and Rhonda Frateschi. Words of rememberance at the conclusion of Mass were shared by Paul Baribault and Marc Chiasson. Folowing a procession to Mt. Hope Cemetery, Monsignor Caron recited committal prayers followed by Gertrude’s great-great-grandchildren, William Lawrence, Marc and Brooke Frateschi, who led all in the Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be. Pallbearers were Marcus Thompson, Gerry Lawrence, Chip Stickney, Peter, Marc, and Eddie Frateschi as well as Cris Carson, and Rik Belanger. At the conclusion of services, all were invited to a reception of fellowship at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston.
