WINDHAM — Margaret May Cox, 91, of Poland, died Monday, Aug. 27, at Ledgewood Manor.

She was born in Fall River, Mass., May 14, 1921, the daughter of Henry Cuthbert Almond and Melvina Johnson Almond. Margaret was a loving mother and caregiver to many others, young and old, over the years.

She spent summers working at Camp Fernwood, then Tripp Lake Camp, retiring when she was 80.

She was a member of the Lakeside Grange in West Poland and the Poland Busy Bees.

She is survived by a son, Robert Bennett and his wife, Diane; daughters, Brenda Marcotte and husband, Leon, Nancy Shanning and husband, Harold Sr. and Janice Strout; grandsons, Jeffrey and Sarah Allen, Harold Shanning Jr. and Shannon, Kevin Bennett and Allison, Robert Bennett and Angie and Matt Bennett and Rob; granddaughters, Jennifer Mayhan and John, Susan Miller and Paul, Bethany Allen, Kristina Spring and Scott; great-grandsons, Christian, Ben, Lucas, Nick, Matt and James; great-granddaughters, Rachael, Nicole, Brittany, Chelsey, Lily and Anna. She was predeceased by an infant son, Kedmond Bennett; brothers, George and Henry Almond; sister, Melvina Simmons; her second husband, Lewey Cox; and loving friend, Arthur Higgins.
