RUMFORD — A 14-year-old boy was airlifted to an area hospital Wednesday morning after authorities say he fell roughly 30 feet off a ladder at a Wyman Hill Road home.
Authorities declined to identify the teen.
Rumford police Sgt. Tracey Higley said the incident happened at about 8:36 a.m. He said the boy’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Fire Deputy Chief Richard Coulombe said the boy was helping someone on the roof at 5 Wyman Hill Road when he fell.
Higley and Coulombe said the teen was flown to the Maine Medical Center in Portland, but Med-Care Ambulance supervisor Wayne Robbins said Med-Care took him to the landing pad at Rumford Hospital. There, he was picked up by LifeFlight and flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Robbins said.
Robbins said he couldn’t provide the youth’s condition.
About two hours after the incident, people outside the house, which was under renovation, declined to comment.
