DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am trying to locate someone who buys comic books. They are from the late 1970 to the mid-1980s. There are a large number of them in excellent condition. — No Name via email
ANSWER: Sun Spots does not know of anyone locally. She knows readers get annoyed with this response, but your best option is probably Internet sites such as eBay and www.mycomicshop.com.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Are there any massage therapists in the Lewiston-Auburn area that use the following types of treatments: Ashiatsu, Shiatsu, Thai or cupping? Thank you. — No Name via email
ANSWER: Undoubtedly there are. Hopefully they will write to Sun Spots.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: After several hours of using various search engines, I have given up. Can Sun Spots find anyone in the state of Maine who can repair silicone dolls? After reading Sun Spots for many years and seeing your success rate, if you can’t help it means there aren’t any that can repair these dolls. — No Name via email
ANSWER: Sun Spots went online to see if there are dolls made of silicone other than the ones used for life-size “love” dolls, and discovered that baby dolls are also made out of silicone. Still, that does not help her in answering your question. The only doll repairers Sun Spots has in her Rolodex focus on antique dolls. Perhaps readers will know someone who can help.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: My wife is looking into her family history. We think that her grandfather James Henry Casterline, her mother Naomi Casterline and uncle James Casterline were residents of Shiloh around 1900 to 1905. They might have been part of the Kingdom. Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. — David A. Stone, [email protected]
ANSWER: Sun Spots wonders whether you saw her columns of Aug. 6 and 16 or if it’s just a coincidence that you wrote now? At any rate, all she can do is suggest you check out the books on the topic recommended by readers: “The Almighty and Us, The Inside Story of Shiloh, Maine” by Arnold L. White and “Fair, Clear and Terrible.” She does not have access to any other information, and it’s unlikely anyone who was there is still living.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: If any of your readers would like to teach a class in whatever captures their interest, L-A Senior College would love to hear from them. We wrote to Sun Spots last year and got several new teachers. We thank you very much for helping us.
