DEAR SUN SPOTS, I have recently lost weight and I have some nice clothing in sizes 12-14 suitable for professional/office work.

Do you know of a charity that would take these clothing for women needing such assistance to enter the workforce? Thanks. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots knows of some charities, but she does not have a complete list in her Rolodex. On Monday she put out a call for all local charities that accept used items to write to her with the following:

* Name of organization

* Address, phone, website, email

* Hours of operation

* Items organization accepts

In a future column, Sun Spots will print a complete list.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I sent the person looking for a hospital bed (Aug. 21) an email, but I thought this information might also help others.

For those eligible, Medicare will cover 80 percent of the rental cost of some medical equipment including hospital beds. If you have a companion plan, they may cover the other 20 percent. Medicare will cover the rental for 13 months, after that you own it.

We got my mom’s hospital bed through Bedard Medical Supply in Auburn. They handled the paperwork. You just have to get the patient’s doctor to send them a prescription. They delivered the bed, set it up and showed us how it worked. — No Name via email

DEAR SUN SPOTS: It is difficult to explain the response to my request for a hospital/adjustable bed. It was amazing! To the family whose offer I accepted, I say thank-you and God Bless you in a very special way. Thank you to all who phoned me and God Bless you as well. — Patty Maberry, patmaberry@roadrunner.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In response to the Aug. 9 question about the glass-fronted building in Greene, I believe you will find that it belongs to George Schott or one of his companies. Inside there’s an old carousel set up. — No Name via email

ANSWER: Sun Spots verified that the building does indeed belong to him. He said it’s a private collection of things he’s interested in.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In 1979 (this is dating me) we made a Christmas snowman with a plastic drop cloth for the arms, face, legs and body. We used an empty box of oatmeal cereal for the hat, small Christmas tree balls for buttons and pipe cleaners to form everything together.

The problem is I no longer have dimensions for the body and length of cuts of the drop cloth. If someone knows the instructions, I would be so grateful to have them. It was so cute. — Pauline St. Pierre, 753-1221

ANSWER: The only thing Sun Spots found online was a post from someone else asking the same question, but all she got was a snarky answer. Hopefully readers will be more helpful.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Our Activities Department at the Victorian Villa Rehabilitation and Living Center in Canton has a ceramic class with our residents every other week. They really enjoy painting the pieces and displaying them or giving as gifts to family members. Our problem is that we are having trouble getting pre-fired pieces for the residents to paint.

is there anyone in the area who could donate bisque pieces for our residents to do? We would appreciate any help.

For any questions and to arrange pickup or drop-off of items, please contact Patty at 224-7052 or the Activities Department at 597-2510, ext. 168. — Mitzie Turnbull mitzieturnbull@victorianvilla.net
