BREWER — Mt. Blue used an outburst of three touchdowns in the third quarter to pull away from Brewer for a 55-22 Eastern Class B football victory at Doyle Field.

Already in command 28-14 at the half, the Cougars chalked up a 30-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Whitney to Nick Hyde, a 67-yard run by Calan Lucas and a 3-yard run by Bradley Jackson to break it open.

The Cougars had it all working offensively before the break, as well.

Whitney opened the night with a 29-yard TD toss to Cam Abbott.

Jackson’s first scoring run of the game covered 10 yards. He tacked on the two-point conversion.

Hyde grabbed a 53-yarder from Whitney in the second quarter. Whitney got into the act himself with a 5-yard run.

Mt. Blue and Brewer’s junior varsity squads swapped touchdowns in the fourth period.

Leavitt 27, Hampden 17

HAMPDEN — Leavitt erupted for three touchdowns late in the first half Friday nightt to fuel a 27-17 Eastern Class B football victory over Hampden.

Logan Steward kicked a 27-yard field goal to give Hampden a 3-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Brian Bedard responded with a 19-yard TD rush for the Hornets. The point-after failed with 7:12 remaining.

Josh Faunce’s 5-yard scoring rush and Bedard’s two-point run made it 14-3 with 3:01 to go.

Leavitt quarterback Tyler Chicoine engineered the two-minute drill and hit Mitch Davis for a 20-yard score and a 21-3 halftime advantage.

Skowhegan 22, Oxford Hills 16

SKOWHEGAN — Adam Clukey’s 18-yard touchdown pass to Grant Benson with 10.9 seconds remaining in regulation spoiled a furious comeback by Oxford Hills and gave Skowhegan a 22-16 Eastern Class A football win at Clark Memorial Field.

The play came on fourth-and-3 after Skowhegan drove from its own 35-yard line with 4:46 left.

Oxford Hills trailed 16-0 at halftime before roaring to life with two third-quarter touchdowns.

Nick Bowie’s 38-yard interception return and a two-point conversion tied it with 2:26 left in the period.

Davis Turner also picked off a pass and had a 36-yard return to set up Malik Geiger’s 1-yard run that put the Vikings on the board.
