LIVERMORE — William Dennis Stires, 73, of Livermore, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, at home.

He was born in Patterson, N.J., April 17, 1939, to William and Marjorie Stires. He graduated from Rutgers University and earned graduate degrees from Northeastern University.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy Morton Stires; daughter, Kimberly LaRoche and her husband, Jeff; son, Thomas Stires and his wife, Rachel; mother, Marjorie Stires; two brothers and their wives, Gary and Carole Stires and David and Linda Stires; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, William Stires; and a brother, Mark.
