Sunday was a history-making day at Poland Spring, for the new stone All Souls Chapel was formally opened at a very impressive service which has been anticipated for a long time. The sun shone brightly in the morning and the little church was crowded to the doors by the interested visitors, many of whom have contributed very substantially toward the building. The service itself was simple and eminently fitting for the occasion. The Rev. Henry R. Rose of Newark, N.J., spoke briefly. He said, “This chapel is the result of the evolution of love and liberality. Twenty-seven years ago services were started for employees of the Poland Spring Hotel in the dining room, and fund to build them a place of worship was started. About $2,500 was accumulated, and other fundraising efforts followed through the years.”
