AUBURN — Granville “Andy” Douglas of Richmond passed away in the arms of his boys on Sunday, Sept. 2, at the Auburn Hospice House.
He was born in Gardiner, Nov. 18, 1949, to Willis and Florence (Yon) Douglas. Andy was raised in Litchfield and attended Litchfield schools. He received his GED while serving in the Job Corp.
Andy had worked at various jobs during his lifetime, but the job he enjoyed the most was working for Sonny Barry and Ted Barry who were on the receiving end of Andy’s jokes. He worked up until June and then he just could not work any longer. He had a lot of respect for Sonny and said he was the best boss he had ever worked for.
Andy is survived by his wife, Juliet of Russia; sons, Dexter of West Gardiner and David (Michele) of Gardiner; grandson, Brandon of Gardiner; daughter-in-law, Ellen of Richmond; brothers, Merle (Gloria) of Wales, Armand (Gert) of Lewiston, Phillip (Beverly) of Rhode Island, and Pete (Connie) of Lewiston; sisters, Bertha of Missouri, Viola of Litchfield, Jeannette (Chuck) of Florida, Lorraine (Max) of Arkansas, Evelyn (Paul) of New Sharon and Sheena (Pat) of Greene; also many nieces and nephews. Andy will be deeply missed by his former wife and best buddy, DeDe Douglas of West Gardiner.
He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Bill Bowen; and sister, Esther Kay.
The boys want to express a special thank-you to Phyllis Weeks for all the help she gave to them and their father during his illness.
“Happy trails to you, Andy, until we meet again.”
