LEWISTON — In honor of National Mental Health Awareness and Recovery Month, 100 Pine Street Wellness & Recovery Center will hold its fifth annual Recovery Block Party from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.
Pierce Street between Ash and Pine will be blocked off for the event, designed as a way for the community to come together and get to know each other better. There will be children’s activities, snow cones, dunk tank, music, bake sale, white elephant/yard sale, plants for sale and resource tables to learn more about local resources and opportunities. This year there will also be dental screenings and a chance to explore a fire truck and the Red Cross’ Emergency Response Vehicle.
Assistance and donations are welcomed. Throughout the year the center encourages creative fundraising and hosts various fundraisers to assist in the self support and sustainability of the various activities such as crafting, jewelry making, field trips and gardening. They are also currently saving for a security system. Additionally,fundraising events help to provide services such as providing meals, laundry facilities, social activities and networking opportunities.
