FARMINGTON — What do First Lego League and the landing of the Mars rover Curiosity have in common? Both use the same scientific process to design, build and program an autonomous robot.
The “SunnySide Up” Lego Robotics Team of Farmington will give a demonstration of its robot and research at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Farmington Walmart.
Anyone interested in First Lego Robotics League for their children ages 8 to 14 are especially encouraged to attend. This program introduces STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics, learning in a fun and engaging way.
Farmington has had successful Lego teams since 2001. The First Lego League teaches using science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics to solve challenges in a group team effort.
This year, the First Lego League challenge will be to research and find ways to help Senior Solutions. The season runs from September to the state championship in December at the Augusta Civic Center.
