Impressively thorough dismantling of Deering in front of a big Saturday afternoon  crowd = lots of early-season buzz for Trojans.

Note to teams hosting Bulldogs this season: Don’t make them take two bus trips in less than 24 hours unless you want to make them mad dogs.

4. Bonny Eagle (1-0)

Senior QB Tyson Goodale had a hand in six touchdowns (three rushing, three passing) in rout of Biddeford.

5. Leavitt (1-0)

If it’s difficult not to take their dominance of the PTC for granted, the Hornets sure aren’t showing it.

6. Brunswick (1-0)

Jared Jensen had a heck of a season against Bangor.

7. Mt. Blue (1-0)

Could the Cougar Gun actually have more ammunition than last year?

Eagles returning to contention by re-committing to physical football.

9. Messalonskee (1-0)

No Sam Dexter, but the Eagles still have Jake Dexter around to do Dexter things.

Defending Class B champs showed depth in 21-7 win at Cape Elizabeth.

Player of the Week

Jordan Whitney, Mt. Blue

Whitney, a senior three-year starter, was almost perfect in the Cougars’ 55-22 win over Brewer, completing 14 of 16 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns.
