Coach: Wanda Ward-MacLean (29th year)

Last year’s record: 10-4-1, lost in Western Class B quarterfinals

Returning players: Senior — Morgan Shaw (MF/B); Juniors — Cheryl Fichter (F), Brianna DeGone (F), Meagan Dow (MF), Emily Shaw (MF/F), Annie Castonguay (B); Sophomores — Sadie Royer (MF/F), Emma Martineau (MF).

Key losses: Amanda Jordan (MF), Casey Fichter (F), Kayla Royer (B), Taylor Eells (G), Adrianna Newton (F), Cassie Griffin (B).

Promising newcomers: Juniors — Sierra Santamango (G), Taylor Ouellette (F/MF), Isabel Smith (B), Kendra Gilbert (MF/B); Sophomores — Mikayla Maillette (B), Addison Gagnon (B), Cassidy Comeau (MF/F); Freshmen — Chantel Eells (B), Kierstan Leclerc (F).

Outlook: Leavitt graduated nine players but returns just as many who saw significant time in another run to the postseason. The Hornets have strength and depth on the forward line and in the midfield. Santomango is a first-year goalie and many of the backs directly in front of her are new to the varsity level. Leavitt tackled a tough preseason schedule, including trips to Yarmouth for a play day and to perennial Class A champion Skowhegan. In KVAC Class B, Belfast, Nokomis and Mt. View are among the schools Leavitt hopes to challenge for league supremacy.

Coach’s comment: “All the kids who are returning played a lot. We have significant experience at every position except goalie.” — Coach Wanda Ward-MacLean
