NORWAY — Dorothy Lauretta Berry, 99, formerly of New Gloucester, died Thursday, Sept. 6, at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center.
She was born at her grandparent’s home on Hessian Hill in South Cornish, Feb. 4, 1913, the daughter of Harold Charles and Florence Day Berry. She attended schools in South Parsonsfield, East Parsonsfield, Cornish High School and graduated from Gorham Normal School in 1933.
She had been employed by Bell Telephone and Telegraph in Cornish and later in Farmington, where she was the chief operator for many years. She was a member of the First Congregational Christian Church UCC in New Gloucester and a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She loved music, gardening and spending time in her greenhouse.
She is survived by her brother, Freedom Barry of Cambria, Calif.; nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
She was predeceased by a brother, Colman Berry; and two sisters, Kathleen Casey and Mertice Barker.
